Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award
Deadline February 10 (must be received by this date), formerly March 1. Recommended free contest gives prizes of $500 apiece for poetry and fiction writers with no more than one published book in their genre. Prize includes an expenses-paid trip to NYC for a reading and consultation with editors and agents and an optional month-long residency in Wyoming. Each year, a different US state's residents are eligible for this prize; in 2023, it is Iowa. Poetry submissions must be 7-10 single-spaced pages; fiction submissions must be 25 double-spaced pages maximum. Limit one entry per genre. Submit manuscript(s) and completed contest entry form online. Sponsored by Poets & Writers, the nation's largest nonprofit literary organization serving writers.
