Deadline January 15 (must be received by this date). Established in 1983, Peregrine is the annual literary journal of Amherst Writers & Artists, a well-regarded writing workshop and press. They are currently open to submissions of unpublished original poetry and short fiction by emerging and established writers. Editors say, “We seek unpretentious, memorable works that reflect diversity of voice. We seek poems that inform and surprise us. We appreciate fresh and specific imagery and layered metaphors, but not excessive verbiage, abstractions or clichés. We will not consider inspirational poetry, greeting-card verse, religious tirades, or nostalgia.” Send 1-3 poems, maximum one single-spaced page each, or one story, maximum 750 words, with $3 submission fee (waived for those unable to pay), via Submittable.
