Raiziss/de Palchi Translation Award
Deadline March 1 (must be received by this date), formerly February 15. Highly recommended free contest from the Academy of American Poets alternates between a $25,000 fellowship for translators of modern Italian poetry to complete a work-in-progress (odd-numbered years), and a $10,000 prize for published books (48 pages minimum) of English translations of modern Italian poetry (even-numbered years). Open to US citizens and residents who have resided in the United States for at least a decade. For 2023, the Raiziss/de Palchi fellowship will be given for the translation into English of modern, standard (non-dialect) Italian poetry. Translator must enter online, completing the entry form as well as uploading a 5-page proposal, 15-page sample of the translation-in-progress, and the original poems.
