RBC Taylor Prize for Literary Nonfiction
Deadlines June 16, August 11, October 6, and November 3 (must be received by these dates), formerly May 29, June 5, August 7, October 2, November 2. Recommended free contest gives top prize of C$25,000 for books of literary nonfiction in English that were first published in Canada between November 1 of the previous year and October 30 of the deadline year. Authors must be citizens or permanent residents of Canada, and publisher must have coast-to-coast distribution in Canada. Publishers of shortlisted books must agree to pay C$1,500 per shortlisted book. Winner and finalists must attend ceremony in Toronto as well as participate in other publicity and marketing events in the week prior to the award ceremony. Deadline varies based on the time of year that the book was published; see website for complete schedule and rules. Publisher should fill out online submission form and submit PDF or ebook version of title for consideration, followed by delivery of 4 hard copies of each title. Also, winner will announce his or her choice for the RBC Taylor Prize Emerging Writer's Award, which consists of C$10,000 and a mentorship opportunity.
