United States/Japan Creative Artists Residencies
Deadlines March 1 and March 29 (must be received by these dates), formerly February 1 and March 1. Recommended free contest awards $25,000 stipend to up to five literary, visual, and performing artists for 3-to-5-month residencies in Japan. Email cover sheet application by March 1, and submit work samples (maximum 15 pages) and supporting materials online by March 29. For 2019, applicants' work must incorporate the vision of the Olympic and Paralympic games to present in Tokyo during the Games in 2020. Applications should clearly represent themes of diversity and inclusion: 'Unity in Diversity', sustainability, building a better tomorrow, peace and prosperity, and the unique relationship between Japan and the United States.
