Call for Manuscripts
A $1000 prize will be awarded to a writer who is living
above the 40th parallel. Only poets with an even
numbered birthday need apply. All entrants must
own a dog, cat, or goldfish, and furnish a photo
with the pet's name on the back. Manuscripts can be
of any length, provided they're not too short or too long.
There is a $30 reading fee, however, in honor of James Wright,
if you are a resident of Wheeling, West Virginia;
Bridgeport, Ohio, or William Duffy's farm,
the fee will be waived. The deadline is Groundhog's Day,
unless Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow.
Then the last day to enter will be extended by two weeks.
To avoid any conflict of interest, the editors who wrote
the definition of "poetry" for Merriam-Webster's
Dictionary will judge. The winner's name will be
announced at Stonehenge on the vernal equinox.
Visit our website for the required entry form
which must be notarized and folded
into an origami swan.
