Dancing with a Corset
I like to write poems about women
I am writing one about the daughter I never had
Do you want to read it? Want me to read it to you?
Here's the one about Emily Dickinson
It is supposed to be shocking Dangerous
Do you want to read it? It is clever
I think poems should be read Like comic books
Do you want to read my Captain Marvel Number 7?
ThatóI am sorry to reportóis not about a woman
No women at all in any of the Captain Marvels
What was I thinking? Oh Women
There are blank pages in some of my books
Maybe I could put one of your poems in there?
It wouldn't have to be about a woman
Maybe Music Maybe Drinking coffee
Maybe walking down the street drinking coffee
listening to music thinking about writing
a poem about a woman dancing in her corset
Do you want me to read that one? Now?
I am sure these poems have to be about something
I plan to throw in a pony or two Some flowers
Ordinary things So you will never feel
threatened or overwhelmed
I have several hundred of those Very popular
Would you like me to read you one of them?
Time for the comforting witty ending
Time for the zany irony about irony
Time for that woman to appear Peeling off her corset
I want you a little bit excited as I walk away
From this poem Smiling Waving
My ipod turned up super loud so you can hear me
reading my latest about the woman's hips
wrapped in yellow-green tie-dyed silk
Can you see my voice in my hand as I walk away
from you waving the thousand dollar bills
you have given me so I can have my bald
skull trimmed shaved & waxed?
Beautiful women want to use my skull for a mirror
Do you want me to read you that poem now?
Thank you Thank you Thank you very much
