J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award
Deadline December 5 (must be received by this date), formerly December 7. Highly recommended free contest from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism gives two $25,000 fellowships to aid in the completion of a significant work of nonfiction on a topic of American political or social concern. Applicants for the award must already have a contract with a US publisher to write a nonfiction book. Applicants should submit an entry form, a copy of their original book proposal, 50-75 pages (12,000-19,000 words) from the book, a photocopy of a contract with a publisher, and an explanation of how the award will advance the progress of the book.
