Recent Honors
Congratulations to Martina Reisz Newberry. Her poetry collection Where it Goes is forthcoming from Deerbrook Editions and available for pre-order. Reviewing this book in the arts and culture e-zine Drunk Monkeys, Gabriel Ricard calls it "breathtaking in its variety and originality" and "superb at creating autobiographical material through stylized poetic verse". Congratulations to Lesléa Newman. In 2015, Headmistress Press will publish her new poetry collection, I Carry My Mother, a book-length cycle of poems exploring a daughter's journey through her mother's illness and death and her own grieving process. In other news, her poems "Sleepaway Camp, 1969" and "When Things Fall Apart" were published in Festival Writer.
Congratulations to Ute Carson. Her poetry chapbook My Gift to Life was published in collaboration with Nazar: Attitude and Culture Magazine of the Crimean Tatars of Dobrudja. R. Bremner's flash fiction "The Cats of Roma" was the featured story for the week of July 14 at Every Writer's Resource.
Mi West's short story "A Mixed Blessing" was published by The Release Magazine in July. His flash fiction "Faraway Encounter" was one of five finalists in the Summer 2014 Flash Fiction Literary Competition from Tethered by Letters.
Charlie Bondhus was the subject of a feature article by Jessamyn Smith in Tupelo Quarterly. The interview, "A Poet in Conversation(s) with Art", discussed his diverse sources of inspiration, including ancient Chinese poetry and his artistic collaboration with his partner, the photographer Kevin Hinkle. Four of Charlie's poems were also published in the journal. In other news, his poem "Jeffrey Dahmer Talks to His Father" was published in Blue Lyra Review.

Chris Behrens's picture book Savanna's Treasure was favorably reviewed in Kirkus Reviews, which called it a "story enriched by an inspiring animal alliance...a good fit for early readers." The North Jersey newspaper Community Life ran a feature story about the author and the inspiration behind the book.
Ellaraine Lockie's poem "Sizing Down in the Driveway" was the featured poem for July 27 at Your Daily Poem.
Ann Thompson's poem "Old Plane" was published in the August issue of Flyover Country, a new journal devoted to the literature, arts, and culture of the American Midwest. The poem was inspired by her discovery of an antique woodworking tool that the pioneers used to repair wagon wheels.
Robert F. Gross's poems "Those Who Serve", "Birth of Venus", and "Dover Beach Diodes" were published in the online journal Dead Snakes.
