The Suburban Review: “Untrue” Issue
Deadline October 25 (must be received by this date). The Suburban Review, an Australian literary journal, seeks submissions of poetry, short fiction, essays, comics, and artwork for Issue #40, whose theme is "Untrue". One submission per person across all genres. Send 1-3 poems or one piece of prose, art, or comics. Accepted authors receive A$400-550 depending on genre. Editors say, "In a time of fake news and counterfeits, scammers and artificial intelligence, tell us how you're sifting through the layers of conceit. Send us your most suspicious stories, fallacious arguments, and prose that teeters between fact and fiction. What have you been covering up? Which appearances are deceiving? Is there something that rings false? We're itching for unreliable characters, fabricated worlds, and deceptive turns of phrase. Is it time to come clean, or will you be keeping up the poker face?" (Deadline is 5 PM Australian time on October 26, which would be 2 AM Eastern US time, so we are listing it as an "October 25" deadline to be on the safe side for our Western hemisphere readers.)
