Doreen E. Massey is a member of the House of Lords in the UK Parliament. She speaks mainly on issues related to child welfare and education. She is on the Board of UNICEF UK. Her career has been in teaching and health education, including consultancy work in Central Asia and Russia as well as in the UK. She began writing two years ago and is working on her first novel, set in China in the 1920's and 30's. She was born in Lancashire in Northwest England, is married with three children. Her leisure interests include sport, opera, theatre, film and reading.
