Janine Certo's poems have appeared or are forthcoming in literary journals, magazines and anthologies including Burningword Literary Journal, Illya's Honey, Main Street Rag, Vox Poetica, Muddy River Poetry Review and The Endicott Review. She is associate professor of language and literacy at Michigan State University's College of Education. Her awards include a Lilly Fellowship and a grant from the Spencer Foundation. She is at work on her first poetry collection, In the Kitchen with a Letter on the Chest. She lives in East Lansing, Michigan with her husband and dog.
