Jen Knox is an educator at Ohio State University and the founder of Unleash Creatives/Unleash Lit. Her debut novel, We Arrive Uninvited (March 2023), was the Prose Award winner from Steel Toe Books. She is also the author of After the Gazebo (Rain Mountain Press) and The Glass City, a collection of climate-based fiction that won the 2017 Press Americana Prize and was re-released by Hollywood Books International in September 2023. She has contributed to the Madville Press anthologies Muddy Roads and Taboos & Transgressions and the great weather for MEDIA anthology Shape of a Curve.
Jen's fiction and short essays appear in over a hundred journals and magazines including Chicago Review, Chicago Tribune, Five South, Jaded Ibis Press, McSweeney's Internet Quarterly, and The Saturday Evening Post; most recently, she won the 2023 CutBank Montana Prize in Nonfiction. Jen grew up in Central Ohio, dropped out of high school at seventeen, and worked a variety of odd jobs before finding her way to writing. She went on to earn her BA from Otterbein and MFA from Bennington. Writing and storytelling have led her everywhere she's been since. Jen is currently finalizing a collection of essays about work and a magical novel about domestic abuse survivors.
