Queer Adventurers LGBTQIA Writing Contest
Deadline October 31 (must be received by this date), formerly December 15. Neutral free contest gives $150 top prize for personal essays, between 1,000-1,500 words, by LGBTQIA adults on a theme that changes annually. This year's theme is "Firsts", and essays must connect this theme to outdoor adventures and LGBTQ+ identity. Submissions are accepted via sponsor's online Google Form; upload your essay as a Google Doc (be sure to change the permissions to "anyone on the internet with this link can view"), provide a brief bio, and complete a demographic survey.
