Recent Honors
Congratulations to Yvonne Fein. She won first prize in the 2024 Gutsy Great Novelist Page One Prize for the opening excerpt from her historical fantasy manuscript The Wheel in the Sky. The most recent submission period for this contest, with prizes up to $1,000, was June 17-July 17. In other news, her story "Both Sides" was published in Wordswell Journal, Vol. 5 (Summer 2024). "SuperJewel" appeared in the journal Crow & Cross Keys. "Unreliable Chronicles" will be published in Persimmon Tree.
Congratulations to Lynn McGee. Her new poetry collection Science Says Yes was published this month by Broadstone Books. Visit her website for sample poems and event announcements. She will be reading at An Beal Bocht, an Irish pub and event space at 445 West 238th Street (at Graystone Ave.), Bronx, NY, at 8:00 pm on February 12. Lynn says, "It's impossible to escape news of climate crises, the impact of AI, loss of biodiversity and other dire trends. This book has been my way of processing that news and finding hope."
Congratulations to Gary Beck. His thriller Rescue Others, a sequel to 2023's Rescue Me, is now available from Close to the Bone Publishing. The series protagonist is a former teen runaway who becomes a combat specialist to fight terrorists.

C.M. Pickard's poem "The Swan" was published in Pineberry Literary Journal, Issue #2. "Inventor's Domain" was published by The 805 at The NightWriter Review.
Terri Kirby Erickson's guest column (paywalled) "The joy of spending time, in person, with one another" was published December 22 in the Winston-Salem Journal, a North Carolina newspaper. In other news, her poem "Family Vacation" was published in Rattle (Winter 2024) and selected as the Poem of the Day on the journal's website for January 13. Gloria Mindock's poems "Faith", "Birds", and "Good-Bye", from her collection Grief Touched the Sky at Night (Glass Lyre Press, 2023), were reprinted in EastWest Literary Forum with Russian translations by Pavel Krichevsky. Elizabeth Lund interviewed Gloria about the book in her video series Poetic Lines (29-minute YouTube video).
Noah Berlatsky's poems "The Birds Fly Up" and "The Drunken Planet" were published in Dark Winter.
Annie Dawid was interviewed on the UK podcasts The Pigeonhole and Cult Vault about her novel Paradise Undone: A Novel of Jonestown (Inkspot Publishing).
Eva Tortora was mentioned in Broadway World and Asian American Arts Alliance for her December 17 performance in Global Dance Circle for Social Change, a production of Mark DeGarmo Dance.
