Colleen Williams

Colleen Williams was born in South Dakota, home of the Lakota Nation. She has lived in Minneapolis, Boulder (CO), and New York City and lives now in San Francisco. She is a composer whose work has been recorded by the Paul Winter Consort, and performed by various orchestras, singers and instrumentalists throughout the world. She holds a degree in Fine Arts as a painter and musician. Colleen performed as a jazz vocalist for two decades. She is also a classically trained singer who performs sacred classical music and currently sings at the Cathedral of St. Mary in San Francisco. She wrote comedy for the TV series Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and was nominated for many Emmy and Ace Awards. She was a recipient of the Peabody Award for her work on that series. Colleen is also working with the New Sudan Generation in an attempt to develop water systems and bring necessary infrastructure to Sudan. Although Colleen has written poetry since she was a child, literally thousands of pages, her poems have never been published. The Winning Writers War Poetry Contest is her first submission for publication.
