D.T. Lumpkin
D.T. Lumpkin divides his time between his home in Nashville and wherever he can crash in Athens, Georgia, while he is pursuing a PhD in English there. His prose has appeared in The Sun, The Oxford American, Five Points, and Story Magazine, amongst other places. His honors include an AWP Intro Journals Award, an Ohio Individual Excellence Award, and Notable Mention in Best American Essays.
He was born and raised in rural east Alabama before majoring in English at Sewanee. After earning his MFA in Creative Writing at The Ohio State University, he taught Composition and Literature at Middle Tennessee State University, where he also served as a mentor in the MTSU Write program. He volunteered as a co-facilitator of a death row writing workshop at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution. Later he lived and wrote in London for four years with his wife, two daughters, and yellow lab Biscuit.
In the little spare time he has, Lumpkin enjoys fishing, sometimes competitively, throughout the Southeast, as well as studying Polish so he can one day convince his mother-in-law that cold weather doesn't make you sick.
