Rebekah McDermott

Rebekah McDermott is a writer and social worker based in London. Her work has been published by Bandit Fiction, Swoop Books, and Bedford Square Anthology, and in 2018 she won the national Children's Society short story competition in partnership with Viking, Penguin Random House UK. Her short stories have recently been longlisted by Myslexia and for the 2024 Bath Short Story Award. She writes realist and fantasy fiction for young adults and adults, centering around family dynamics and societal issues. She's currently writing her debut fantasy new adult novel.
Rebekah holds an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway and an MSc in Advanced Relationship Based Social Work Practice from The University of Lancaster. When she's not writing she's rolling around on a yoga mat or finding some freezing British water to swim in.
