Shannon Hancock
Shannon Hancock was raised in Durham Region, Ontario, where she still lives with her wife and their two children. Her love of reading as a child lead to an early passion for creative writing. Her stories have appeared in several literary journals, most recently The Antigonish Review. Shannon is a graduate of the Humber College journalism program (Toronto), and although she never became a journalist, she does consume an enormous amount of news content daily (when she should be writing). She works in the film and television industry as a researcher and has been fortunate to read scripts from some of the best Canadian films and TV shows over the last 20 years. Shannon has also attended the Humber School for Writers' summer workshop and correspondence programs. In her time at Humber College, Shannon had the opportunity to work with some of Canada's most talented writers, who encouraged her passion for fiction writing, especially in the short story format. The lessons have stayed with her and are the reason she always, eventually, comes back to a quiet place with a notebook and a pencil to write the next sentence.
