Ninth Letter: “de/composition” Online Issue
Deadline November 1 (must be received by this date). Ninth Letter, a prestigious journal edited by the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, creative writing program, is open to submissions of unpublished poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction on the theme of "de/composition" for their Winter 2024 Web Issue. Editors say, "Send us your work that sees, in decay, something new. Send us work that, in content, in form, in spirit, decomposes as a way to recompose." Send 1-3 poems, or one prose piece up to 3,500 words, with a cover letter explaining how it relates to the theme. They are also open to general submissions for the print magazine through February 28, with a $3 fee. See their Submittable page for details. This is a paying market.
