Julie Porter is a doctoral student at Columbia University and holds graduate degrees from Middlebury College, Harvard's Graduate School of Education, and Sarah Lawrence College. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University. She was a finalist in the Charles Simic Poetry Competition and Bread Loaf's Robert Haiduke Poetry Competition. Julie is a nationally licensed soccer coach, an avid backyard barbecuer, and the companion to a yellow Labrador Retriever named Zoe. She lives in Montclair, New Jersey where she is at work on a collection of poetry about Meat.
