I received an MFA in Poetry from the University of Michigan in 2005, where I was the recipient of an Avery Hopwood Award in Graduate Poetry. I currently serve as Associate Director of the University of Michigan's Bear River Writers' Conference which takes place annually at Camp Michigania on Walloon Lake in northwest lower Michigan (a stone's throw from Hemingway's Windemere Cottage). I currently live in Petoskey, Michigan with my wife and daughter, where I work in the wine-importing business and as a freelance journalist. When not traveling, reading or writing, I can be found prowling the trout streams of northwest Michigan.
