Recent Honors
Winning Writers editor Jendi Reiter's essay "Double Incision Diary" was the runner-up for the 2025 Lascaux Review Prize in Creative Nonfiction. The next submission period for this contest, with prizes up to $1,000, will be April 1-September 30. In other news, Jendi's poem "Introvert Pervert" is forthcoming in Ocean State Review. Jendi was interviewed at I'm From Driftwood, a site that films LGBTQ people talking about pivotal moments in their lives.
Congratulations to Mark Fleisher. He was awarded a gold medal from the Military Writers Society of America for his poetry book Incidental Moments: New and Selected Poems (Mercury HeartLink, 2025).
Congratulations to Patricia Lee Lewis. Her debut novel, Thorns of the Mesquite, was published this month by Levellers Press. Set in West Texas in 1938, Thorns of the Mesquite is the story of a rancher's wife who dares to shelter a Black man from a lynch mob.
Congratulations to Gary Beck. His poetry collection Objectives was released last month by Winter Goose Publishing.

Ruth Thompson's poems "Fold the Three Black Crows" and "Bee Talk" were published in the Galway Review.
Linda Summersea's memoir, The Girl with the Black and Blue Doll, is now available for pre-order. Jack Canfield, co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, calls it "a powerful testament to a girl's determination to overcome unbelievably difficult circumstances and finally succeed." Her upcoming readings include an event on Wednesday, December 10, at 6:30 pm in the Forbes Library Community Room, 20 West Street, Northampton, MA, and another on Wednesday, January 14, at 1:00 pm at the Northampton Senior Center, 67 Conz Street, Northampton, MA. Kelli Russell Agodon's poem "Dementia Is a New Way to Be Buddhist" was the Poem-A-Day selection for October 7 at the Academy of American Poets website.

Charles Sartorius's tale of terror about a boy with a horrific ability, "Thirty-First", was featured online in the Halloween edition of MetaStellar.
Chen Du and Xisheng Chen's translations of Chinese poet Yan An were recently published in two journals: "Knife for Decisively Cutting Off Floating Clouds" and "Sometimes Someone Is Only a Shadow" appeared in AGNI, a publication of Boston University, and "What Is the Firmament Hiding" appeared in Meetinghouse, published by Dartmouth College.
