I was born in the Philippines, and grew up in Manila with my brother. My mother was Spanish, born on a plantation south of Manila, child of immigrants from Spain. My father was a transplanted Texan, an explorer and developer of mines who lived in the Philippines for over fifty years. Our childhood was unique, brightly happy, and evanescent in a land we would leave forever to attend university and build our lives in America and counties beyond. I now live in Frisco, Texas, where my always supportive and patient husband and I share our home with five cats, three dogs, and an occasional grown child.
