Eileen Baland is Assistant Professor of English at East Texas Baptist University, where she teaches literature and writing. She holds a Ph.D. in Literary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas, an MLA in Literary Journalism and a B.A. in Creative Writing (Poetry) from Southern Methodist University. She is currently working on the MFA in Writing (Poetry) at Spalding University. Her poems have appeared in Espejo Magazine, Muse Apprentice Guild, and Poetrymagazine.com, and have won awards in creative writing competitions hosted by Writer's Digest, Southern Methodist University Literary Festival, Mesquite (TX) Literary Festival, and Richardson (TX) Literary Festival.
