Karen Rockwell

Karen Sylvia Rockwell is a poet and short fiction author who has begun dabbling in the visual arts. (Her style is "Accidental Art"—ask her about it!) She lives in Windsor, Ontario, a community rich with collaborative arts projects where she thrives among fellow poets and artists.
Curious Connections, her flash-fiction chapbook was published by Urban Farmhouse Press in 2016, and over 40 of Karen's poems and stories are published in journals and anthologies, including Arc; Room (1st Prize 2013); Brooklin Poetry Society (2nd Prize 2018); The Windsor Review; The Banister; and The Grief Diaries.
Additional recognition includes winning The Power Plant's 2020 Power of the Poets contest; being shortlisted in Quattro Books' 2018 Best New Poet in Canada Contest; and being a finalist for the Two Sylvias Press 2018 Wilder Series Poetry Book Prize. She has received several Ontario Arts Council grants.
Karen is a lesbian Mom and Gaie with a colourful, multi-faceted, extended blended family. She was born in Maryland, and as a teen, moved to Ontario, Canada, where she has lived since. She earned her M.Ed. from University of Windsor, and does counseling for a living.
