Lucinda Dhavan was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She went to India on a Fulbright grant immediately after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, and fell in love. She worked for several years as a features editor for a local newspaper there before she felt she might have learned enough to write fiction again. Her short stories have been published in India and also in The Paumonok Review, Carve, Gargoyle, and other publications online and in print, and are included in the anthologies One World: A Global Anthology of Short Stories and Everywhere Stories: Short Fiction for a Small Planet. Her first novel was a finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize, and she is working on another.
She moved back to America during the pandemic and now lives in Concord, Massachusetts.
