Mary Jean Chan
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Mary Jean Chan first discovered her love of writing through her literature classes at Diocesan Girls' School. Inspired by the movie "Dead Poets Society", she began crafting poetry and short stories in her spare time last year as a freshman in college. Last November, her short story "A Breath of Fresh Air" placed third in the Global Short Story Competition based in England. Now an English Literature major at Swarthmore College, USA, Mary Jean looks forward to honing her writing skills through reading and writing poetry more often. "In Search of Paradise Lost" is her first competitive entry in poetry, and she is grateful to John and his team for all their hard work in managing this meaningful competition.
