Michelle Symes is a PhD student who has been recognised as an emerging writer in the 2019 Katherine Susannah Pritchard Foundation Fellowship and the 2018 Westerly Writers Development Program. Michelle has been shortlisted and longlisted for Australian short story competitions and published in Westerly and the Review of Australian Fiction. Michelle is writing a novel exploring themes of difference, compassion and belonging. She has a background in journalism (The Age, AAP), documentary creation and corporate communication. She lives in Fremantle, Western Australia.
