Russel Ray is from Kingsville, Texas, where he was born and then raised mostly by his paternal grandmother. He has lived in the San Diego area since April 1993. His business career has seen him self-employed his entire life, mostly as a "serial entrepreneur" specializing in getting companies through startup and growth phases. However, he also has founded his own businesses in grocery export, antique restoration, roofing, landscaping, international and wireless telecommunications, heating and cooling, computer sales, construction, real estate agent, real estate investing and renovating, project management, business consultant, marketing consultant, home inspector, photographer, writing and editing, typing and desktop publishing, and author. Russel retired from the business world at the end of 2016 and now specializes in succulent gardening, photography, and speaking throughout the nation to high school botany and mathematics classses, gardening clubs, and library patrons about the Fibonacci series of numbers and how they are expressed in nature.
