Samuel Exler's poetry has been widely published in magazines and anthologies. Robert Bly praised his first poetry book: "I am often moved...by these poems." His work has appeared in Global City Review, the Literary Review, New York Quarterly, Plainsong, Poetry East, Home Planet News and others. Among the anthologies in which his work appeared are: Beyond Lament (Northwestern) and River Poems (Slapering Hol Press). An infantry soldier in WWII, he is entitled to wear the Combat Infantry Badge, Distinguished Unit Citation, ETO Ribbon with three Battle Stars, and the Bronze Star. For a brief period he also served as an interpreter with Counter Intelligence.
