Sena Moon

Sena Moon is a 2024–2026 Stanford Stegner Fellow and the recipient of the 2020 PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers. Her stories and essays have appeared in The Southern Review, The Kenyon Review, Boulevard, The Fiddlehead, Guernica, and elsewhere. Her work has received Boulevard's 2019 Short Fiction Award for Emerging Writers and Carve Magazine's 2022 Prose & Poetry Contest. She was also named a finalist for the 2026 Masters Review Best Emerging Writers Contest and received third place in Glimmer Train's 2018 Short Story Award for New Writers, among other honors.
Sena holds a BA in Art & Design and an MFA in Fiction from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she received the Zell Fellowship, the Hopwood Undergraduate Award, and the Tyson Award for Fiction. She credits a wonderful instructor with encouraging her to make the leap from graphic art to writing. Originally from Seoul, she now lives in Northern California, where seasons cease to exist. When she's not teaching or writing, she works as a linguist. She is currently at work on a novel and a collection of stories set in South Korea.
