After a 29-year career that took him to over 60 countries, Vinod Busjeet turned to writing. His novel Silent Winds, Dry Seas was published in 2021 by Doubleday (Penguin Random House). He is currently finalizing a poetry collection inspired and informed by his worldwide travels and experiences. He was a finalist for the 2019 DISQUIET Poetry Prize and his poem "Notes Towards the Definition of Culture" appeared in the anthology Karahee from the Cane Fields (Hawaii University Press, 2024).

Born on the island of Mauritius, Vinod was educated at the Royal College Secondary School, then studied in Madagascar at the French Université Charles de Gaulle and in the US. He holds degrees from Wesleyan University (Connecticut), New York University, and Harvard. He has worked as a secondary school teacher in Mauritius, an international development banker at the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation in Washington, DC, and as a diplomat.
