Beth Ann Fennelly Wins the 22nd Annual Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest
Beth Ann Fennelly of Oxford, Mississippi won the 22nd annual Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest sponsored by Winning Writers and co-sponsored by Duotrope. Her entry, "Epistle to My Lord Concerning My Sons' Future Spouses", bested those of 6,303 other poets to receive the $2,000 prize. The Second Prize of $500 was awarded to Ellie Black, also of Oxford, Mississippi for "On Being the Glamorous Blonde Villain from All Those Nineties Kids' Movies". A special Third Prize of $250 was awarded to Josh Baumgart of St. Louis, Missouri for "A Sex Therapist's 50 Ways to Please Your Lover (Paul Simon)". $3,750 was awarded in all.
