Room Magazine “Magic” Issue
Deadline July 31 (must be received by this date). Founded in 1975, Room is a Canadian journal of literature, art, and feminism. Room publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and art by women (cisgender and transgender), transgender men, Two-Spirit and nonbinary people. They are currently seeking submissions for their upcoming issue on the theme of "Magic". Send 1-5 poems or one prose piece via Submittable; see website for art guidelines. Editors Arielle Spence and Yilin Wang say, "Let your imagination run wild: take us to fantastical worlds, alternate realities, or show us the magical in the quotidian. Send us your fantasy, your speculative, your magic realism, your afro-futurism and #blackgirlmagic but don't be afraid to transmogrify genre expectations and pull something totally unexpected from your sleeve. Underrepresented writers—including but not limited to women and nonbinary writers who are Black, Indigenous, people of colour, queer and/or disabled—are especially encouraged to submit."
