PEN/Phyllis Naylor Working Writer Fellowship
Deadline June 1 (must be received by this date), formerly August 15. Highly recommended free contest awards a fellowship of $5,000 to an author of children's or young adult fiction. An eligible candidate is a writer of children's or YA fiction in financial need; candidates have published at least one novel for children or young adults which has been warmly received by literary critics, but has not generated sufficient income to support the author. The writer's book(s) must have been published by a US publisher. Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated by a fellow writer. Submit all application materials online, including a cover letter, project outline, excerpt of 50-75 pages from current project, letter of nomination, three professional reviews, and financial statement.
