Waterman Fund Alpine Essay Contest
Deadline March 2 (must be received by this date), formerly February 2. Recommended free contest gives top prize of $1,500 and publication in Appalachia Journal for essays of 2,000-3,000 words that explore the relationship between the human spirit and the environment. Authors must not have been published in a national magazine on the topic of their submission or have previously published a book-length work on topics of wilderness, wildness, or the ethics and ecology of environmental issues.
