Ocean Awareness Student Contest
Deadline June 17 (must be received by this date), formerly June 18. Highly recommended free contest gives prizes up to $1,500 in each genre for poetry, prose (fiction and essays compete together), music, film, and artwork by students aged 11-18 about climate change and ocean conservation. 2019 theme is 'Presence of Future', and this year, the sponsor seeks works about a “coastal/marine species, place, or system that will be threatened, altered, or lost due to climate change”. Junior division is for students ages 11-14; Senior division is for students ages 15-18. See website for length limits in various genres for each age division. To qualify, works submitted must have been created during the current academic year (June 2018-June 2019). All entries must also include a brief reflection, 100-250 words, on your work, along with contact information for an adult sponsor. Enter online.
