Stop the Hate: Youth Speak Out Essay Contest Grades 6-10
Deadline January 5 (must be received by this date), formerly January 6. Neutral free contest sponsored by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage awards five prizes of $400 to students and up to $5,000 to schools for anti-bias education for essays, maximum 500 words, on fighting discrimination. Essays must be true accounts, not fictitious stories. 2018 prompt is inspired by the lives of political leaders Carl and Louis Stokes. Open to Northeast Ohio students in grades 6-10 in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, and Wayne counties. Online entries strongly preferred.
